AEK BC announces that they have reached an agreement with Greg Brown III (24 years old, 2.01m).
The American forward signed a contract in the early hours of the morning, which runs through the end of the 2025–2026 season.
BIOGRAPHY
Greg Brown was born on September 1, 2001, in Dallas, Texas, and at 2.01m he plays at the forward positions. He attended Vandegrift High School in Austin, where in his senior season he averaged 26.1 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.1 assists per game, leading his team to a 33–3 record and the Class 6A regional quarterfinals. His performances earned him Texas Player of the Year honors, while he also received the prestigious distinction of being selected for the McDonald’s All-American Game.
In 2020, he joined the University of Texas, where in his lone NCAA season he averaged 9.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game, starting in 24 of his 26 appearances.
His professional career began in the NBA when he was selected 43rd overall in the 2021 Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans and was immediately traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. He played two seasons (2021–2023) with the Blazers, making his NBA debut on October 23, 2021, against the Phoenix Suns.
During the 2021-22 season, he averaged 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists across 48 games, recording a career-high 17 points against the Detroit Pistons on March 21, 2022. The following season (2022-23), he appeared in 16 games, averaging 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds, while also producing 12.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in the NBA G League with the Ontario Clippers.
In 2023, he signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 6 NBA appearances, while standing out with 10.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for the Texas Legends (the Mavericks’ G League affiliate).
In September 2024, he joined the Mexico City Capitanes of the NBA G League, while last season he also competed with the Calgary Surge in Canada.
