AEK BC announces that it has reached an agreement with Gian Clavell (32 years old, 1.93m).
The Puerto Rican international guard signed today (27/11) a contract until the end of the 2025–2026 season.
BIOGRAPHY
Gian Clavell was born on November 26, 1993, in Puerto Rico and graduated from Colorado State University.
He began his professional career in his homeland with Brujos de Guayama. In the 2017–2018 season, he signed with te Dallas Mavericks and made 7 NBA appearances, while also playing for the Texas Legends in the G-League.
He then moved to Europe, joining Sakarya in Turkey, and in the 2018–2019 season he competed in Spain’s ACB with Estudiantes, averaging 12.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 22.5 minutes of play.
In the 2019–2020 season with Bursaspor in Turkey, he posted averages of 18.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, while in the 2020–2021 campaign he played for Avtodor Saratov in Russia, averaging 16.2 points and shooting above 40% from three-point range. In April 2021 he moved to Greece to reinforce Promitheas Patras in the Basket League playoffs.
After his short stint in Greece, he joined Ukrainian side Budivelnyk for the 2021–2022 season (26.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists), before spending the 2022–2024 period with Ukrainian club Prometey, making 33 EuroCup appearances with averages of 13.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.9 steals.
Last season he returned to Spain to play for Granada, where in 20 games he averaged 9.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2 assists per contest.
This season he had a short spell in Romania with Valcea, while also appearing in two FIBA Europe Cup games, averaging 26.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3 rebounds with 52.9% from three-point range.
With the Puerto Rican National Team, he has 41 caps with averages of 12 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, while this summer he competed in the FIBA AmeriCup, posting 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.5 rebounds in the four games played by his national team.
