AEK Betsson BC is pleased to announce that Dimitris Katsivelis (33 y.o., 1.98m) is returning to the “Queen”.
The international guard signed today (04/07) a two-year contract with the “Queen”, until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
BIOGRAPHY
Dimitris Katsivelis was born on October 1, 1991, in Thermi, Thessaloniki, and he is returning for his third stint with AEK, after seasons 2015-2016 and 2020-2021.
He began his basketball journey at Mandoulides Schools and in 2010 signed a professional contract with Olympiacos, with whom he won the EuroLeague twice (2012 and 2013), the Intercontinental Cup in 2013, two Greek Championships (2012 and 2015), and the Greek Cup in 2011.
In the 2015-2016 season, he wore AEK’s black and yellow jersey for the first time, while the following season (2016-2017) he moved abroad to play for Astana in Kazakhstan, with whom he won the domestic double (Championship and Cup). He returned to Greece in 2017 to play for PAOK, followed by two seasons with Promitheas Patras (2018-2020), and his second stint at AEK in the 2020-2021 season.
He continued his career at Peristeri (2021-2022), Kolossos Rhodes (2022-2023), and Aris (2023-2024). Last season, wearing PAOK’s jersey, he averaged 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 21 games in the Stoiximan GBL, while in the FIBA Europe Cup he averaged 9.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 15 games.
On national team level, he is a member of the Men’s National Team, and has won the gold medal at the U18 European Championship in 2008, as well as two silver medals with the U20 National Team, at the 2009 World Championship and the 2010 European Championship.
